Dr. William Murrell shares experiences and knowledge on recent advancements in sports shoulder surgery with colleagues at Get On Track Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre. Thanks to the medical-managing director Mr. Semir Bakija and the rest of the team Ned Radomirovic – sport orthopaedic therapist Golf Fitness Specialist, Elena Stefaniu – Manual Lymphedema Therapist, Lucia Siegel – Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist, Jumana H Qaqish – Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist , Luliana Tunaru – Licensed Massage Therapist and Tanja Dobrijevic – Licensed Massage Therapist for the interactive and informative discussions.
Dr. William highlighted in the discussion the commonly encountered sports shoulder surgery problems such as shoulder labral tears, shoulder ligament tears, rotator cuff tears, partial rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement, muscle dysfunction, calcium deposits, arthritis of the shoulder, frozen shoulder, and shoulder separations. Also, further discussions on conservative treatments such as ultrasound guided injections, cutting edge biological treatments such as PRP and Stem Cells, exercise regimes, rehabilitation protocols, and shoulder surgery.
Having interactive and informative discussions as such would greatly benefit healthcare teams and will afford the providers a much better understanding and approach with regards to their practice and application to treatments. In the end, the patients will greatly benefit as a result of sharing of knowledge. Furthermore, this inter-collaborative discussion and sharing of ideas between healthcare providers can help improve future programs that focuses on imaging and specific rehab protocols.
Specific cases discussed:
Case 1 Scapular dyskinesis or sick scapula with posterior labral tear in young cabin crew-evaluation, imaging, shoulder surgery, post operative rehabilitation.
Case 2 Massive rotator cuff tear with neurologic involvement in young active semi-professional hockey player-evaluation, imaging, shoulder surgery, post-operative rehabilitation.
Case 3 Adhesive Capsulitis or Frozen shoulder-evaluation, imaging, shoulder surgery, post-operative rehabilitation.
Case 4 High grade partial rotator cuff tear in senior cabin crew-evaluation, imaging, shoulder surgery, post-operative rehab.
Look forward to working with Get on Track to help all patients in Dubai, to “GET ON TRACK”
