World Arthritis Day 2014: Attention suffers of shoulder, knee, and elbow pain – Dr. Murrell invited

Dr. William Murrell proudly invites you to the upcoming World Arthritis Day 2014 celebration. World Arthritis Day was established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) and is celebrated each year on 12 October. World Arthritis Day is an ideal focus for organizations to raise awareness of issues affecting people with RMDs and for individuals to support campaigns.

The aims of World Arthritis Day are:

  • To raise awareness of RMDs amongst the medical community, people with RMDs and the general public

  • To influence public policy by making decision-makers aware of the burden of RMDs and the steps which can be taken to ease it.

  • To ensure all people with RMDs and their caregivers are aware of the vast support network available to them.

This year (2014) the Middle East Arthritis Foundation will celebrate World Arthritis Day this coming October 10-11. The 2 day event is packed up with different programs, events and activities to help raise awareness of issues affecting people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs). Dr. Murrell, invited faculty, will be having a round table discussion with patients.

Discussions will focus on learning about different types of arthritis, multiple knee pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain in numerous places of the body, and medications. Dr. Murrell will be joined by Dr. Waleed Al Shehhi, Dr. Humeira Badsha, Dr. Bhavna Khan, and Dr. Mustafa Al Izziin the round table discussion. The program will take event on October 10, 2014 at 10AM to 8PM at theRadisson Royal Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road. Everyone is welcome to join, free of cost, with English and Arabic sessions.

Day 2, October 11, 2014 World Arthritis Day celebration will be having Juvenile Arthritis Forum that will take place at the CafeCeramique in Jumeirah from 10AM to 12NN.

It will be lead by Dr. Betina Rogalski – Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist at the Children’s Medical Center, Dubai, together with Dr. Suma Balan– Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, India, and Ms. Maya Kobeissi – Registered Dietician Specialized in Pediatric Nutirion at Dr. Humeira Badsha Medical Center, Dubai, UAE. Following the said event is a Kitchen Challenge at the SCAFA-School of Culinary and Finishing Arts in Dubai; event will start from 3PM to 7PM.
